Vice President of Sponsorship Appointed

MARRIOTTSVILLE, MD, 

Effective January 2, 2002, Sr. Rosemary Smith, S.C. will serve as Senior Vice President of Sponsorship for the Bon Secours Health System (BSHSI). Sr. Rosemary Smith's area of responsibility will include our local systems in Virginia. As the Senior Vice President of Sponsorship, Sr. Rosemary will have primary responsibility in the areas of Sponsorship, Mission, and Governance. She will be a member of the Senior Team of Bon Secours Health System, Inc. and will work closely with BSHSI Senior Leadership in the Virginia local systems in strategic planning, negotiations, leadership development, with a particular focus on the mission interest of the Sisters of Bon Secours.

Sr. Rosemary comes to Bon Secours Health System, Inc. from Sisters of Charity of the Incarnate Word where she is the Director of Women's Advocacy. She is also the Adjunct Professor of Canon Law at the Saint Thomas University School of Theology at Saint Mary's Seminary.

Sr. Rosemary is a member of the Sisters of Charity of Saint Elizabeth in Convent Station, New Jersey. She brings extensive experience in organizational leadership, governance, education, and congregational leadership. Sr. Rosemary served as the Assistant General Superior for the Sisters of Charity of Saint Elizabeth as well as Provincial Councilor. Sr. Rosemary Smith holds a Doctorate in Canon Law from the Catholic University or America and has numerous publications on Canon Law.
