Leah Cerkvenik, St. Anthony Community Hospital Administrator, Appointed to Medical Board of New York Organ Donor Network

Warwick, NY – Leah Cerkvenik, Executive Vice President, Administrator for St. Anthony Community Hospital in Warwick, NY, has been elected by the Board of Directors of the New York Organ Donor Network (NYODN) to serve as a member of its Medical Board.

The Medical Board serves as the federally required advisory board to the NYODN. It provides the Board of Directors with recommendations on the development and oversight of the Corporation’s medical policy, practices and procedures as they relate to organ and tissue procurement, donor suitability, donor management, quality management, the distribution and allocations of organs and research.

“It is certainly an honor to be chosen to serve as a member of the Medical Board of NYODN,” said Cerkvenik. “It’s an organization committed to providing an understanding among healthcare professionals and the community so that people will be able to make an informed decision about the life-saving benefits of organ and tissue donation, and I am excited about being part of this important effort.”

Cerkvenik has served as Executive Vice President and Administrator for the Warwick based St. Anthony Community Hospital, Schervier Pavilion Health Care Facility and Mt. Alverno Center Adult Home and Assisted Living Program since September of 2000. Prior to this, she served as the Hospital’s Vice President of Patient Care Services. She has been with the Hospital since 1990, serving in various capacities as Vice President Patient Care Services; Vice President of Nursing, Chief Nurse Executive; Assistant Vice President of Administration; and prior to that, as Manager of Surgical Services and as a staff RN.

She holds a Masters of Science in Health Services Administration from the New School for Social Research in New York and is a member of the American College of Health Care Administrators, the American Organization of Nurse Executives, the Association of Operating Room Nurses and the New York Organizations of Nurse Executives.

St. Anthony Community Hospital, Schervier Pavilion and Mt. Alverno Center are members of the Bon Secours Charity Health System, which includes Bon Secours Community Hospital and McCauley Center in Port Jervis, NY, Good Samaritan Hospital and Good Samaritan Home Care Services in Suffern. NY.
