Administrator of Centers for Medicare and Medicaid to Visit Bon
Secours Maria Manor

PETERSBURG- Thomas Scully, the Administrator of the Centers for
Medicare and Medicaid Service (CMS) will visit Bon Secours Maria
Manor a recent recipient of the Florida Gold Seal for Long Term
Care Excellence Award. Mr. Scully will visit the facility at
8:00 am and offers brief remarks about the CMS Quality
Initiatives Program as well as the Gold Seal Program. He will
then have time to tour the facility, and answer questions.
Bon
Secours Maria Manor is a 274 bed skilled nursing facility
recognized nationally for quality compassionate care. The
facility was recognized by the JCAHO with a score of 100 on its
last survey and was recognized in the last month by Dr. Rhonda
Meadows, Secretary for the Agency for Healthcare with the Gold
Seal for Excellence in long-term care. Maria Manor is part of
the international Bon Secours Health System, which is owned and
operated by the Sisters of Bon Secours.
Mr.
Scully is the administrator of The Centers for Medicare and
Medicaid Services, formally HCFA. Mr. Scully has been in his
current position since May of 2001. CMS is responsible for the
management of Medicare, Medicaid, the State Children Health
Insurance Program and other national health initiatives. CMS
currently has the second largest budget outlay of the federal
government and insures approximately 25% of the US population.
