Board of Directors Appoint Samuel Lee Ross, M.D. Chief Executive Officer
June 21, 2006

Marriottsville, Maryland – Bon Secours Health System announced today the appointment of Samuel Lee Ross, M.D., as the new Chief Executive Officer (CEO) for Bon Secours Baltimore Health System. Dr. Ross’s appointment comes as a result of an in-depth national search for the position to be vacated as a result of current CEO, Percy Allen’s retirement in August, 2006. Dr. Ross will begin his leadership on August 14, 2006.

Ross comes to Bon Secours Baltimore Health System from Parkland Health and Hospital System where he currently serves as Executive Vice President and Chief Medical Officer. His career spans over twenty years and includes leadership positions in the areas of operations, ambulatory services, faculty, clinical quality and compliance programs, private practice management, and strategy development.

“I wish to thank our search team for a job exceptionally well done,” stated Carserlo Doyle, chair of the search committee and board chair for Bon Secours Baltimore Health System. “We couldn’t be more pleased with the caliber of leader we have in Dr. Ross. His background and values are a strong fit for our system. He has a successful history of strong operational and community leadership and working in partnership with medical staffs.”

Sister Anne M. Lutz, president of the Board of Directors for Bon Secours Baltimore Health System and lead senior vice president for the national Bon Secours Health System, added “Bon Secours Baltimore has grown tremendously over the years, and its people have contributed to the West Baltimore community in so many significant ways. Dr. Ross brings many experiences in working with and in communities for improving health and well-being. He has the skills and capabilities to lead this system into the future. I am truly excited about his joining Bon Secours.”

Dr. Ross received his medical degree from the University of Texas Health Science Center Medical School in San Antonio, Texas, and a master of science in medical management from the University of Texas at Dallas, Richardson, Texas. “I am looking forward to working within the Bon Secours system. My wife and I are excited about moving to Baltimore and being an integral part of this community. I am very motivated by this faith-based system and am inspired by its strong sense of mission and many contributions to the people it serves,” stated Dr. Ross. Percy Allen, who announced last October his intention to retire 2006, will continue to support the health system through his retirement in August, 2006.
